I had thought perhaps you made a typo, that it was really the Causal Killing Act. No, indeed it is casual, and perhaps that is more fitting, as the two of definitions “without emotional intimacy or commitment” and “Seeming or tending to be indifferent to what is happening”. That indeed seems to reflect the brutality of we see in many of the killings of black Americans at traffic stops were vastly disproportional violence is given to a routine event: “without emotion”, “Seeming difference.” It is more reflected by the police chief or commissioner who speaks not with outrage but what many perceive a measured need for justice, to look at all the “facts.” It is time to call out all racist practices out loudly, with the same thunderous voices Marin King, Malcom X, James Baldwin, and others used in the 50s and 60s, voices embedded with a furious sense of dignity that said they would not agree, they will not stand for injustice.
Thanks again for focusing on this piece of history.
