UK Aficionados of Depravity Recall Western Horror On Al Jazeera

I’ve been forgetting to look up the British Holocaust. Although I’ve explored other ones from the last two hundred years or so, I missed the Big One: India. More accurately: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh. Apologies there to our friends in Africa, as I started exploring but haven’t gotten to any good tallies of UK butchery as I got mired in Leopold’s II Congo invasion and 15 million dead. But I did discover now that India is like Africa in that the British really “returned,” that is really ramped up in scale of assault, from their Great Western European War Invasion starting in 1884 on Africa planned in Berlin. But what happened in India starting then I quickly discovered was really a doozy.

I had to quit my investigation from revulsion but will share initial “light” depravities on the Holocaust. Why anyone in their right mind romanticizes this horror show on a white supremacist empire I’ll never know, — or I will. I grew up watching A Room with a View seeing movies with my mom and other quaint romance movies with some light tragedy and well-crafted Victorian signs. (With my dad, as they were divorced it was Doctor Zhivago and French new wave). Women were melodramatically repressed in the films, most of the time it seemed by an overbearing patriarchal Anthony Hopkins, but the women used their delicate…
