I don’t want to jump into the debate is Israel and Palestine and which side is more historically repressed, as they both are from what I know. Israel wears set up after WWII with help from British occupiers/invaders after the Holocaust and thousands of years of oppression and Palestines seems to have to say in this carve out. What I do know is that BLM is not a movement for me and not an organization, though there is one. I believe the millions of Black American and other Americans poured out onto the streets after George Floyd because they couldn’t take such obvious sustained repression. The early Michael Brown may have been the direct reason BLM the organization was created, but the sympathy and movement is bigger. It’s like saying Martin Luther King owned the Civil Rights movement.
However, that doesn’t stop the right and this nutty pundit from targeting BLM as a stand in for all black Americans. She was despicable and condescending by saying BLM is a terrorist organization or “you aren’t there for us but we’ll be there for you next because that’s who we are” [we’re people still better than you black Americans when we showed up for you during the civil rights movement and will do so again because we’re still better than you]. What a horrible white racist rant that never should have been published. It’s clear who should be in the newsroom and who shouldn’t, but they have it reversed as always.
Thanks so much for shedding the light of analysis on Ms. Davis’ ‘opinion.’
