I don’t think they’ve ever changed. The white leadership of this state is resistance to change and the fight against the changes to equality outweigh the positive changes. The white leaders, whose sons are those privileged fans, have been struggling against equality at every turn. They’ve walked back defeat of the civil war, and after 35 years changed the constitution to eliminate black American voters, as pointed out. That new constitution in 1901 reduced black American registered voters from 187,000 to 3,000 by 1903. What’s missing from this history books is all that ‘hard work’ these white men have done in that state *against* democracy and equality, which far outweighs what they’ve done for it.

What those loud mouth young men did by screaming this slurring language is only identify themselves as the most anti-American people in the crowd. They openly fight against American ideals, while the author openly fights for them. The professor here is only taking our country forward while these good ole boys are openly dragging it backwards, resisting the declaration’s ideals, never having crossed the line into the real spirit of America. America is an ideal not given, but a struggle to a state of mind where only those who do the work can reach. I hope to keep on until I get there with the author, and finally cross that ocean and set foot on the beach far from the continent of hate and authoritarianism those young men and their leaders still live in. Keep on shining the light in the darkness so we can see where the shore is professor Spivey, we’ve almost there.
