I agree, it was terrible to witness this genocide. I had thought for sure Obama, once elected, might stop this genocide and ethnic cleaning in Sudan the way Clinton stepped in The former Yugoslavia to stop the genocide of Muslims by Christian Serbs. But no. It turns out he wasn’t principled enough, and was raised by white grandparents and mother in Elite boarding schools in Indonesia and and Hawaii before attending Harvard. I voted for him three times, but I honestly knew he was a centrist and realist, the same way Biden is. Sudan was under Saudi Arabia protection, which is under American oil interest protection. Of course, no one stepped into Rwanda to stop the genocide we watched happen in real time as well. The European International court was willing to step in to judge these genocides after they occur to appear morally correct, instead of “interfering” or stopping them when they knew they were happening, which makes them to me morally contemptible. The “world” (or UN and some leaders in democracies) does know of modern day slavery, and there are plenty of documentaries and testimonies on it, whether it called slavery or something else, like housekeeping in Qatar or elsewhere they confiscate a Philippine woman’s passport on arrival and don’t pay her, garnishing her wages for rent and food, and hitting her and often raping or sexually abusing her. The world can only take interest if you find these videos and testimonials and raise awareness. The powerful won’t be inclined to take any action otherwise, as they love the “bread and circuses” as advised since Roman times. Autocrats love a good repression. Don’t expect Middle Eastern rulers to do a thing without outside pressure.
