I absolutely applaud your bravery, your writing and your reaching out to tell your personal story.

Personally, I found it easier one day to tell myself in my head: Bang, You are now an atheist. Nobody knew it happened as it just was in my head. Suddenly though, I didn't have to worry about the moral authority of some rule enforcer quoting some scripture or religious writing to force shameful feelings down my throat. I didn't have to care at all. It was such a relief, at least for me, in my own head and heart. To be free of prejudicial judgement, so nice. Not to have to worry about some moral condemnation from some religious "authority." So pleasant. I know what's in my head and heart better than them anyway. That's what I have to follow.
