Huh? You are correct that is hard to believe it hasn’t sailed through. Until you realize that this system has grown organically since 1865, spreading outside the South in 1934, and is used now to make money for most major corporations and investment houses (hedge funds, private equity) involving Walmart, Cargill, Starbucks, Blackrock, Berkshire Hathaway, BAE systems, Amazon, the list is incredibly long. There are thousands of prison industrial complexes across states and the federal governments, and local sheriffs even lease black convicts out to make barbecues, as seen in the new book The Highest Law in the Land. The political interests are buried deep on both sides of the aisle. There is little to no chance it would “sail through” the democrats or the conservatives. Both support it. In fact, there was just a commission back in April where the head of WorthRises Bianca Tyler was asked by the Congressman Biggs after her testimony, “So, what do you want us to do?” She answered, “End slavery.” He said, “That’s too hard, you have to give me something easier.” In other words, in this committee with Democrat Jerry Nadler and other listening and asking questions, who all know about the issue, the answer was “No.” No we can’t end slavery. No one showed up it looked like in the clip to support her. I was one of the few to watch it and care.
