Have We Americans Gone BatShoot Crazy?
Your Private Collective Self-Rationalization Engine
Collective self-rationalization happens privately in your head when you need to stick to the status quo. It’s a mechanism to keep you “balanced.” You need to agree with the great leader and his party, so you justify what they say inside your brain. Orwell called it Groupthink, but such socialized or group thinking really starts inside your head.
Go ahead, test your own brain. For American to reach the point it’s at now is to appreciate this brand-new quote concerning the Trump administration, you can react to this quote: “race-baiting politician who hates America.”
Your brain immediately identifies whether you are a Republican or a liberal. If you’re a conservative, you recognize that Trump makes this statement, and if you’re a liberal, you understand it’s about him, even if he likely directed it towards someone else, projecting his own qualities onto that person and casting them as an enemy.
That would be true if we were in his first term. However, in Trump’s second term, his staff handles this for him. What follows in this current scandal seems typical of Trump: “We have nothing to discuss with him, so he is considered PERSONA NON GRATA.” Yet, these tweets are from Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
