Great work here and I enjoyed it, but be careful — since you’re in Florida you don’t want to get arrested by DeSantos people or your confederate neighbor. (LoL)
I got a whole bunch right. As a older white dude, that’s pretty good. I was thrown for a loop because previously you mentioned 12 of 14 presidents own slaves (not both Adams) but then the question went to 18 and I recalled the 4 others might have. Washington owned 9 and all the rest though were owned by Martha, who inherited them from her previous marriage. The escaped slave was Martha’s I believe, a house girl, though I’m not making an excuse for using bounty hunters to try to capture her in New Hampshire, a desirable practice.
However, one minor note, perhaps a correction: I did write an article about “Little Steven”, or Estabano, the first slave to step foot in American in 1526 in Florida. The 500th anniversary is coming up and I suggesting meeting there for a celebration and making it festive with family reunions, many spread out stages, a sponsorship by Ancestry (ok I didn’t say that but it’s a good idea), and to celebrate 500 years of black American and black French and black Spanish —contributions to making America, to building it, to being a part of it. Little Steven was a complex man, an explorer, and a fitting symbol for the rich history and complexity that should be noticed.
