Great discussion with much to think about. A person should always ask another — please tell your name. Every teacher should be trained to ask every student on the first day of class, from Kindergarten or pre-school to twelfth grade:what would you like me to call me you? Let me repeat it back to you. It’s basic courtesy and shows each person how valuable they are by stopping right away to listen to them saying their own name. Then asking them what they would like to be called, repeating it. First day, every year. Is it so hard to teach teachers to show basic human respect?
You are addressing a fundamental problem I believe, showing respect. Thanks much.
