Think about this for a moment. Seriously. DeSantis fired a prosecutor, lead DA Monique Worrell, in Orlando area, Orange and Osceola counties, who is black woman, and a highly educated, prominent lawyer, because she has not met her quota to imprison blacks and brown Americans. Here’s a successful black woman being defined as a loser for not meeting her jailing quota. Shouldn’t we be saying Good For Her? And the what the Heck is Wrong with this System?

DeSantis is trying to block or intimate the court into stopping her lawsuit suing the state, because it appears he hates checks and balances. That is a problematic ‘minor issue,’ but it should be noted before moving on to the other part, that this story reveals his worldview is one where he sees his power as autocratic and let’s interfere in the courts. He has told the Florida Supreme Court that it has “no authority” to review a lawsuit challenging his decision.

That shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it is another firm and bold step toward autocracy. If his cowboy boots become gestapo boots, get your arm bands ready.
