Context is key to understanding, that’s true. If I had just watched the first half of the song, I would say he is a bit aggressive in taking her cloths and hat, but then the reversal occurs of roles, and that makes it a bit different. Of course, not everything “back then” was sexist and women were powerless. Women were actually the first factory workers in America, in Connecticut where the fabric factories were set up in the 1840s and 50s.
