Proactive Planning for the 500 Year Celebration of Overcoming and Discovery
I need your help. We don’t have much time. 2026 marks the 500th year when slavery and black exploration was introduced into the continental United States. We need to come up with a name and formal for this. You can help. One small proactive group can change make a celebratory change. Black History month should be about grassroots doing, not just recognizing grassroots doing.
Here’s that chance for those who want to be in the driver’s seat to finally create a celebratory holiday. No need to wait for the government to change as previous holidays started without government. Juneteenth was founded by black slaves looking to celebrate. MLK was push from the ground up, too.
In 1526 the first slave set foot in Florida. Esteban, or “Little Steven”, who’s name predates rock-n-roll but seems to have that flavor, arrived that year to become the first African to set foot into the North America in Florida by some accounts. Some say 1527. But we are here to celebrate life, and attackers like to displace people by quibbling.
