Buchanan Worse Than Trump?

When White Elected Men At Least Fought for Equality and Black Civil Rights

Think about these words, only a couple altered, made by an elected official on the floor of Congress in shock over the President and the threat he poses to democracy and think of Trump:

“The President’s message, now under consideration, is full of sentiment subversive of the Constitution. [He] sanctions and defends a policy destructive of the public peace and threatens the public interest. And yet the President complains of agitation!!”

This almost verbatim, and it sounds like something an outraged Democrat would make. The only flourish I added was the double exclamation point. Here though we find the same warning to the American people and Congress going on today. It is the President threatening to tear up the Constitution and yet the President is the one saying he is being attacked. It exactly is the same rhetoric being thrown around about Trump.

At this point you are thinking this was just before the Civil War by a Republican Congressman from Ohio. And this Republican was definitely not JD Vance. In fact, he was an abolitionist who was instrumental in drafting the 14th amendment to protect Black Americans Civil Liberties and Rights.
