Headline Euphemism Misleads Those Responsible
Here’s the real headline I corrected:
“White House assails ‘extremist’ Israeli minister for opposing cease-fire”.
Euphemism is something that can absolve responsibility by avoiding pointing the finger. In the headlines it’s constant when speaking of the war, or ethnic cleansing. In this case, the language has thrown off all protestors, in America and Britain, by diverting them to bark up the wrong tree, or a forest of trees.
The “White House” cannot speak, as the original headline said. It is not a “spokesperson” who is responsible. It is technically President Biden. (I have to say I hate Trump as my criticize sounds political but isn’t — there are many issues in politics, this Israel one unites the leadership of both parties.) Each President is Commander-in-Chief. When military cargo planes ship caseload and pallet of bullets, missiles, bombs, tanks, and so on to “Israel,” or the Israeli government, it is Biden who orders it.
