The New Just Say No Anti-Racist Drug Shakedown Campaign
[Trigger warning: I don’t think there is satire here, but there sure is a bunch of nasty bits of real recent and older Texas history]
Republicans entering election season are tired of “the war on woke” schools full of woke anti-racist baby board books, woke mega-corporations parading boys in dresses selling beer, and the endless woke fake media. They want some good ole fashion violence. Enough sissying-around. You can only get so far and look so tough by bullying children, trans, and black gay journalists.
Governor Greg Abbott has stepped up yet again to go that supremacist extra mile. As we’ve seen in my other reporting from Texas, he’s gone back to basics: strong man police-state implementing everywhere. Now it includes the war on drugs. His tactics of policing we’ve seen take shape in Houston schools are turning libraries into detention centers devoid of books and studying, replacing effective principals with political allies, and teachers with uncertified ones and permanent substitute teachers. There will be more police in schools, and you can be sure more detentions and drug busts during school hours.
