100 percent. Very crisply written and researched article that taught me more about the recent deep history of Black American support for Palestinians. I do agree that withholding your vote is supporting Trump, and there is no chance he will not encourage further devastation in Gaza and the West Bank. Harris represents a change that is much needed. The forces of US government are invested in law makers in Congress that have deep and entrenched power, and in the Supreme Court. What I think Palestinians in America fail to understand is the little control sometimes the President has. However, they are currently not protesting Joe Biden outside the White House, the only person for the last ten months who has the full authority as Commander-in-Chief of the military to stop sending all weapons immediately by direct command of the military.
The protestors should target the one person with the power to order weapons to not be shipped, to order warships in the Mediterranean to deliver food to all Gaza and end the genocide.
Both Parties are more unified on foreign war policy against Muslims and divided over domestic policy. Kamala is not even in power yet. What is she supposed to do if she can’t win the election? Undermining her at this point is fruitless. She can only make decisions and order troops and warships when she is Commanderess-in-Chief. Vote First, then Demand. Not the other way around.
Thank you for the education and clear thinking and background on this vital and critical issue.
